If the courses you need to move forward with your academic plan at Middlesex Community College are unavailable or don't fit the pace of your life, preapproved courses at Sophia may be an option. While MCC offers many asynchronous online course sections with no class meeting times, these may be filled or not offered every semester. • Transfer of credit from Sophia to Middlesex is based on our general practice of recognizing American Council on Education credit recommendations, which we also use for Advanced Placement, CLEP exams, and Joint Services Transcripts from the military.
• Selected courses preapproved for transfer credit are listed in the course equivalency table below. A minimum grade of C- (70%) is required.
• Students should contact the Transfer Credit & Degree Completion Coordinator at Middlesex before considering any other courses not on the preapproved list. (Contact info below.)
• MCC's acceptance of credits from Sophia does not guarantee or imply that they will be accepted by another college or university when the student transfers out. Since these credits are ungraded, they are unlikely to be accepted without prior approval from the receiving institution.
• Students should consult with MCC Admissions and Advising staff before taking courses from alternative sources to ensure applicability to academic program requirements and plan of study.
